Abstract Black Wave

Understanding God’s assignment for us is critical as we prepare to do His will in our life.

When you feel you know someone you are often left flabbergasted to find you have been traveling on a different road of understanding. As I began to explore Eunice Woods Cohee’s book, Chosen for This Assignment, I was rewarded with a greater understanding of how she came to be closer to the Lord and where this relationship led her. She immersed herself in both familiar and obscure characters of the Bible who shared their struggles to come to terms with the assignments God prepares for each of us. As a pastor and teacher of other ministers I am often left wondering why I was chosen to do things for the Lord, but she laid bare His plan for others, and for me as well, thus answering questions lingering in my mind and heart for years. I found myself identifying with the varied characters of the Old and New Testament who answered their call, with their untold flaws and limitations, and seeing how their submission to the will of God equipped them to accomplish the seemingly impossible.

I recommend this book for those who are conflicted regarding your assignment and are struggling to find their way in this turbulent and hostile world. We need to know our journey might not be easy, but we are left with the assurance that God will never leave us nor forsake us in our appointed mission to do His will. I encourage those reading this book to remain encouraged as you reflect on the characters you encounter in your reading of this book. Then, I would implore you to share your thoughts with others regarding the characters who have come alive in this book excellently written by Eunice Woods Cohee.
